Making friends in the city is harder than it should be. Boston Conversations was created to change that.
We design social experiences to make meeting new people feel natural, welcoming, and deeply rewarding. We create the perfect space for connection to grow.
A Better Way to Meet People
Most social events force you to "work the room," interrupt conversations, or walk up to total strangers.
Boston Conversations is built differently.
Through structured rounds, smart placement, and thoughtfully designed prompts, you'll meet new groups continuously. Simple as that.
The format handles the logistics so you can focus on what matters: enjoying genuine conversation.
Community, By Design
Since 2022, we've connected hundreds of Bostonians, helping spark new friendships, collaborations, and lasting ties. Many who started with us are now core members of a thriving community.
Events bring together 20-50 people in intimate venues across Boston. People consistently tell us they leave feeling completely energized. The structure creates enough comfort to participate and enough openness for authentic connection.
We believe our cities need accessible spaces where belonging is never reserved for the lucky or the extroverted.

What to Expect
You'll spend the evening with people outside your usual routines and social circles, creating the kind of connections that make a city feel smaller and more human.
Structured enough to feel approachable. Open enough to get real.
Get Involved!
There are many ways you can help us increase our reach
One person at the table volunteers to read the first prompt aloud, and the table takes it from there.
Your Own Pace
Everyone can see the questions on their own phone, so there's no pressure to keep up. Read, respond, and listen without rushing.
Permission to Wander
It's fine to go off-topic. The prompt is a starting point, not a script.
A New Prompt, Always Ready
If a topic stalls, scroll to the next question. There's always somewhere to go.
A Typical Evening
The evening runs about 6:30 to 8:30 PM. Rounds start at 6:45, with a short intermission in the middle.
6:30 PM
Check-In & Setup
Pick up a nametag and sign in on your phone. The live event page shows you where to go, and your first table is assigned before the rounds begin.
6:45 PM
Your First Table
The rounds begin at 6:45 PM. The app assigns you a table number, and your first table is the first rotation. You'll sit with a small group of three to five people and open the first question.
6:45 – 8:30 PM
Rotating Conversations
From 6:45 to 8:30 PM you move tables in rounds of about 20 minutes. When the timer goes off, your phone shows your next table, and a new question appears with every switch.
7:25 – 7:40 PM15-minute pause
Intermission
Grab a drink, stretch, or keep a thread going, and the rotations pick back up after the break.
8:30 PM
Open Social
The rounds end at 8:30 PM and the evening opens up. Exchange contacts, keep a conversation going, or stay as long as you like.
Nine in ten attendees arrive on their own. You won't be the only one.
Common Questions
"Do I need to come with a friend?"
No, and you won't be alone: around nine in ten attendees arrive solo. The structure makes the introductions for you.
"What if I run out of things to say?"
You probably won't. The prompts do the heavy lifting, so you can relax and answer the question in front of you instead of performing.
"What if the conversation isn't clicking?"
The rounds are timed at about 20 minutes each, so you get a fresh start with a new group before any lull can set in.
"What should I wear?"
Come as you are. There's no dress code, and most people keep it comfortable.
"How many people sit at a table?"
Three to five. Small enough that everyone gets heard, big enough that the conversation has room to go somewhere.
"How do I get there?"
Each event page shows the venue and directions for that specific night. We pick venues that are easy to reach, and most are close to public transit.
Pick a date, show up, and we'll take it from there.
Start Event begins the session: creates the seating, opens check-in, and moves the event live.
Start Lobby lets guests check in before the event begins. Seating starts later.

End the session
End Event completes the session: stops the timer, opens final feedback for all guests, and starts their 24h window to connect and see mutual matches (revealed at 3 PM Eastern). Guests keep this access even after a Hard Reset.
Same as End Event: completes the session and opens the final feedback forms for all guests. Use either button; they do the same thing.
Danger zone
Prepares the room for a new group: clears tables, rounds, and assignments. If the event already ran, guests keep their 24h payoff window (connecting + mutual matches). This is the normal end-of-night cleanup.
Test runs only: wipes the event doc, tables, ALL guest check-ins and records, and the payoff window. No undo. Refuses to run while an event is live.

What We Collect
When you create an account, we collect your name and email address. To optimize your event experience, we may also ask for your preferences to assist with our structured seating arrangements. If you attend an event, we keep track of table assignments and conversation rounds so the event format works smoothly. We never see your password; it is managed by Firebase, a Google service.
How we use it
We use your information to run events, assign tables, and occasionally let you know about upcoming gatherings. We may also use your data to provide additional features such as seating preferences based on commonalities with other members.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information for advertising or marketing purposes.
Firebase & hosting
We use Firebase for authentication and our database, and Netlify to host the site. Both are established platforms with their own privacy practices. We trust them, but you should check out their policies too: Firebase Privacy Policy · Netlify Privacy Policy.

Everyone deserves to feel welcome, respected, and safe. These guidelines help make that possible.
Be Kind. Be Curious.
Approach conversations with genuine interest and respect. Listen as much as you speak. Ask questions. Be open to meeting people with different experiences and perspectives.
Respect Boundaries
Not every conversation will lead to a friendship, and that's okay. If someone isn't interested in continuing a conversation, respect their choice. If you'd rather move on, that's okay too. A simple "nice meeting you" is enough.
Share the Conversation
Give everyone a chance to participate. If you've been speaking for a while, make space for others. If someone is dominating the discussion, help bring others into the conversation.
Consent Matters
Always ask before:
Sharing someone's contact information
Posting photos of someone
Including someone in plans outside the event
When someone sets a boundary, respect it.
Pronouns
Sharing pronouns is welcome but always optional. If someone shares their pronouns, use them. If you're unsure, it's okay to ask respectfully.
Accessibility
If you need accommodations, let a host know at the event or contact us at hello@bostonconversations.com beforehand. We'll do our best to help everyone participate comfortably.
What We Don't Allow
Harassment, discrimination, or hate speech
Unwanted sexual attention or inappropriate comments
Following or contacting someone who has asked for space
Repeated disruptive behavior
Being intoxicated to the point that it affects others
If Something Happens
You can speak with any event host or email conduct@bostonconversations.com. Reports are handled confidentially and reviewed promptly. Depending on the situation, we may issue a warning, ask someone to leave, or remove them from future events.
Our Commitment
Boston Conversations exists to help people build meaningful connections. That is only possible when participants feel respected, included, and safe.
